When I was seventeen.........

........I attended Maroubra Bay High School.
It had been opened in March, 1959 and, along with a lot of other boys, I was transferred there and joined the other students.
The big attraction! .....This was a co-educational high school and, in 1959, in Year 1 (only) there were girls!
We're all going to meet up again, March 7th, 2009, in the Shannon Room, AJC, Randwick, for a reunion, 50 years after the school was officially opened.
(It has long since closed {1990} and disappeared, after a short few minutes of fame as the first setting for Heartbreak High.
Looking forward to the reunion! More info, here.....

Maroubra Bay High School Reunion March 2009

YET another reunion!!! Maroubra Bay High School ex-students, 1959-1965..  25 March, 2012

Contact Lynne ("bright Eyes") Anderson ~   mbhs1959@live.com.au

I thoroughly enjoyed the Maroubra Bay High School reunion which was held, in 2003, in the Seals Club, Maroubra Beach. That reunion was for those of us who enrolled when the school opened. So iincluded those of us who were there 1959 until 1963.

But next year, 2009, 50 years after the school opened there is a reunion for ALL ex-MBHS students. To be held in the Shannon Room, A.J.C., Randwick.

It will be a slightly bigger version of the 2003 reunion which was so good! 500 people is the limit. Booking / registering needs to be done now, so as not to miss out.

Food. Entertainment in the style that will remind us of our years at MBHS. Free parking. A great day and very likely the last time that there will be such a big get-together of former Maroubra Bay High School students.

7th March, 2009, Location: AJC, Randwick, noon until 5 p.m.. All ex-Maroubra Bay High School students. More information: mbhs59.ning.com.

The Maroubra Connection!

Talk about *connections*!!!
Pamela of Pamela's Beach House, happened to be googling Maroubra. (Her primary school. My high school.) That's how she found me and I found her beach house, at Greenfield Beach!
......
Walking on to Greenfield Beach, in order to photograph the subjects for my next series of paintings, I may very well have spotted the neighbour,

of the cousin (Are you still with me?) of a very good friend of mine, painting a picture, of Greenfield Beach, which this friend of mine, visited, *as a judge*, in the Keep Australia Beautiful, Clean Beach Challenge Competition , in 2001.)

The beach receiving an award, in this competition, at that time, as it did again, last year, for 2008!
I stayed in the studio: of Pamela's Beach House.

Maroubra Bay High School Reunion, 2009. Most enjoyable. ("Heartbreak High")

Lynne Anderson of Crescent Head Holiday Apartments, and ex-MBHS student, like myself, and I, thought it was a good idea!

It will be 50 years, in March 2009, since Maroubra Bay High School was officially opened and the last reunion, in 2003, at the Maroubra Seals Club was such a great success, some of us are keen for another!
We met up in Crescent Head, again, in 2007.

For the second time I was up there, assessing beaches, for the Keep Australia Beautiful Clean Beach Challenge and I stayed in the holiday apartments of Lynne and Tony Anderson.
*******

Now the organising committee has met and plans are under way, for all Maroubra Bay High ex-students to be invited to attend a reunion, in March, 2009. The venue to be confirmed.
*******

The 2003 reunion was for ex-students from the years 1959-1963.
